Getting There by Air
Iraqi Airways (www.iraqiairways.co.uk) fly from London Gatwick to Baghdad. Iraqui Airways also operates flights between Baghdad and all regional cities.
There are now regular scheduled direct flights on an increasing number of international and regional airlines into Baghdad, Basra, Irbil and Sulemaniyah from Dubai, Istanbul, Amman, Vienna, Stockholm and Damascus. The German carrier Lufthansa (www.lufthansa.com) flies to Erbil from Frankfurt and Munich. Departure Tax

The airport is 18km (11 miles) south of the city (journey time - 20 minutes). To/from the airport: Taxi services go to the city with rates negotiable for shared taxis. There is a surcharge after 2200. Car hire is also available.
Getting There by Water At present, all ports in Iraq are closed. Getting There by Rail
A railway exists between Baghdad and Basra but it is currently not working and security for foreigners may be an issue when service resumes; be guided by your embassy advice. The English version of the rail website can be found at www.motrans.gov.iq. A commuter railway is also being introduced in the Baghdad area sometime in the near future according to municipal plans.
